The restaurant is called House of Chen because its owner comes from a mountainous village of central Taiwan, which is exclusively inhabited by the Chen’s clan.

In 1979, I made an adventurous journey to the States. I am grateful for the opportunity offered to me. I have worked strenuously to fulfil my dream i.e. to set up an establishment of my own. My idea is to introduce my culture and my family to friends in this country. That’s why House of Chen is so uniquely different from others.

While you are approaching the entrance, you notice two statues in the form of a boy and a girl standing at the front door as ushers to greet the guests. Inside the Restaurant, there is an area where everything is made from bamboo. This “bamboo garden” imparts an exotic flavor. Slithery fish that swim gracefully in the salt- water tank give the diners a peaceful moment of repose and pleasure and sharpen their appetite. All the photos posted on the walls were taken by myself in Taiwan. They show my dear ones.

If you feel like enjoying the view around or having a chat over a cup of tea after meal, simply walk out to the veranda. Surrounding the Restaurant are bamboo trees, oriental trellis along with ornamental pines Japanese maple, ivy. On the top of a pile of rocks, water flows through crevices to form a small cascade falling into a pond below. Then you see a gigantic Buddha in the shade of bamboo. You wonder if you are not travelling in Taiwan.

At House of Chen, you are not just a customer; you receive a warm welcome like a family member.
